Open Fire/Burn Permit Requirements for Heber-Overgaard.

 Burn Line: (928)535-6709
Information on Red Flag restrictions can be found HERE.

As you may know, brush and wildland fires are a constant threat to our community. Because of this we have strict guidelines when it comes to having an open fire or burning cleared slash or brush piles. Fires measuring less than 3 feet by 3 feet are permitted throughout the year without the need for a burn permit, campfires etc. Persons wanting to have fires larger than this, burning brush piles etc., require a burn permit. The application form can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page and filled in, however, you must bring it to the fire station to receive a permit number and schedule an inspection of the burn site by one of our on-duty crews. This is to ensure that the site is adequate and does not present any danger to the forest and other structures. There is no cost to obtain a burn permit.

To light an open fire measuring less than 3 feet by 3 feet you will need to follow these guidelines;

1. Call the burn line on the day you plan on lighting a fire to check if it is a burn or no burn day, also called a Red Flag day.
2. Leave your name and address on the answering machine so that we know that you have a fire burning.

3. The fire should be supervised at all times by an adult and should not be left unattended.
4. There are no time restrictions attached to campfires as related to permit restricted fires.

5. If the fire gets out of control or starts to spread call 911 Immediately.

Follow the steps listed below to ensure that your fire does not spread and stays extinguished.
